Growing Spring Branch has new businesses popping up almost constantly. With Wal-Mart set to open its doors as the first anchor in the Singing Hills multi-use development September 23rd, this “small town” isn’t so small anymore. When it comes to grabbing lunch, I recommend a few new spots as well as some tried and true favorites.
This week, on Friday, I stopped by The Reel Seafood House on HWY 46 for the lunch special (one of Jon Becker’s personal favorite spots – click here for directions). The 5oz Flounder which was stuffed with a seafood dressing and topped with crawfish in a white wine cream sauce was the main event. It was accompanied by creamed spinach and homemade jambalaya, for the super low price of $9.95. The Reel’s friendly and attentive staff served cold drinks, fresh bread and butter while waiting for the meal, which came out in a matter of maybe 10 minutes. The flavors were big, the fish fresh and the presentation on point.
If you haven’t set sail for this awesome seafood restaurant with a light cajun flare, stop by for lunch next week. The Caddell Family, The Reel’s owners, have over 25 years experience in the industry, and thus, have their recipes down to a reliable consistency. They’ve got a great dinner menu as well (may I suggest the Redfish Pontchartrain or the New Orleans Combo). I’m sure you’ll be hooked on The Reel Seafood House. – the Wandering Broker – Philip B.W.
